ONE'S FOR SORROW, TWO'S FOR JOY
Mourners, midwives, seers, witches: TRËI sings songs of the women who watch over the bedsides of the living and the dying. Crows, ravens and magpies accompany their stories and songs, predict war, bring good news. Poetic and honest, TRËI deals with persecution, empowerment and femininity, honoring all those who have accompanied people on the edge of life with their singing for centuries.
WE WALK EACH OTHER HOME (premiere February 3rd & 4th, 2027, Gare Du Nord, Basel)
Between departure and arrival, and the search for home and a life of dignity: TRËI sings songs of wanderers and the displaced in seventeen languages. In vocal-instrumental winter journeys ranging from Hildegard von Bingen to Âşık Veysel and Arvo Pärt, WE WALK EACH OTHER HOME casts a questioning gaze on migration and flight as one of the primal themes of human history – and on the injustice that occurs again and again, right before our eyes. From original compositions and songs from the Black Sea across the Alps to the Levant and the Scottish Highlands, TRËI weaves an evening of music born of speechlessness, silence, and courage. WE WALK EACH OTHER HOME sings of the unbearable simultaneity of being lost, uprooted, and hope, and poses the perennial question: where is home?
