David Hope (IRL)
Folk Pop
David Hope has undoubtedly drawn influences from blues and American folk music, but his sensitivity, wit, and wistful melancholy are unmistakably rooted in the west of Ireland. Since 2010, the tall, curly-haired musician has been touring Switzerland. His red hair has turned gray, and stories of past loves have given way to tales of losing his father and the new reality of the world in 2026. David Hope is in a different place in his life, and it shows!
„Daydreamer“ is simply what it is… the journey from the last album „…and the sea“, through the entire Corona period, to the world we live in now. It’s an album that, to be honest, was more difficult to record than expected – and than it should have been.”
His last album, "...and the sea," was largely about processing and coming to terms with his father's death—a process that was sometimes very raw and painful. Perhaps it was also because David had such a clear vision in his heart and mind for the album that this collection of songs simply didn't quite fit together! But I believe that it was precisely through this struggle to find common ground—the glue that holds everything together—that the album actually reached an unexpected, fragile, and decidedly unique place.
“That’s not to say it’s a unique album in some way—I mean, it is, but it also contains threads that go back to my first album, „persons unknown,“ and some of which lead into the future with, I dare say, hopeful optimism. This album is like an ill-fitting suit, a somewhat uncomfortable place, but that’s precisely what makes it beautiful, imperfect, flawed, ugly, and sometimes sublime. It was created with love and a great deal of mindfulness in letting go!”
The new album will be released in spring 2027 on TOURBOmusic!
